The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners made a huge deal on July 9, 2010.= Let's break down the trade:

Rangers Get

SP Cliff Lee (adds to rotation that has been suspect all year)

RP Mark Lowe (extra bullpen option, on DL, out until late September-early October)

The anger of the Yankees for getting Cliff Lee (YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Mariners Get

1B Justin Smoak (power hitter, sent to minors shortly after trade)

SP Blake Beavan (prospect, could become good #4 or #5 starter when promoted from AA)

2 prospects (P Josh Lueke and 2B Matthew Lawson, organizational depth)

The Rangers gave up three prospects and a good decent first baseman, but got pitching which has been a problem area.

Lee's Debut

Lee went 9 innings, gave up 9 hits, and 6 runs (all earned) on 95 pitches. He now has a 6.00 ERA with the Rangers and a 2.64 ERA overall. Lee is now 8-4. Lee gave up 3 home runs in the game. The Orioles are now one game away from a sweep.
